The fintech industry, like every other industry, has been blessed with powerful, influential & forward-thinking women. These women have helped shape the fabric of our society, setting an example to us all.
Today we honor these exemplary women by highlighting some of the most influential women in fintech industry history:
- Elizabeth “Bess” Brooke Browne: She is credited with founding one of the first investment banks in the U.S. called the Brooke Group. She was a pioneer for women in the financial world, breaking into the male-dominated industry in the 1960s.
- Abigail Johnson: As the CEO of Fidelity Investments, Abigail Johnson is one of the most powerful women in finance. Under her leadership, Fidelity has become one of the largest asset managers in the world with more than $7 trillion in assets under management.
- Sallie Krawcheck: She is known as one of the most powerful women on Wall Street, and has held top positions at Citigroup, Bank of America, and Merrill Lynch. She now runs Ellevest, an investment platform aimed at women.
- Adena Friedman: She is the CEO of Nasdaq, and is one of the most influential women in finance. Under her leadership, Nasdaq has become a leader in financial technology, launching innovative products like the Nasdaq Private Market and the Nasdaq Stock Market.
- Angela Strange: As a general partner at the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, Angela Strange is one of the most influential investors in fintech. She has invested in companies like Plaid, Synapse, and Tally.
- Anne Boden: She is the founder and CEO of Starling Bank, a digital bank based in the UK. She has been named one of the most influential women in fintech by Forbes, and has led Starling to become one of the most successful digital banks in Europe.
